I usually don't get excited about new gear unless it's the latest new camera, but I just ordered another new packraft from Alpacka, I have two now. I plan to pick it up at the Alpacka shop in Mancos, Colorado and I'll have it just as the temps start warming up for boating in Australia.
The new boat is yellow and has yet to be named. Any ideas for a name that doesn't include the word banana or lemon cream puff?
This is packrafting in yellow boats on the Picton River this past year.
Bill,
You could call it the "Geo Scout" – short for geographic, referencing the yellow border magazine, and of course a worthy vessel for just such assignment I would think!
But then again perhaps that is too formal, you could then just call it "Curious George" ... no copyright infringement intended!
I wish you the best in all your adventures, and look forward to catching up again in the Southwest!
Best, Jeremy

You can't have the name "Night Train". It is taken by my sailboat.

OK Michael Night Train is out, But Curious George could be the name. Jeremy you win a free pint at the Dolores River Brewery. I'll give you a call to let you know when you can collect.

Can't think of anything witty to say about yellow Bill....Jealous of the new rig though. The only new thing in my packraft world will be a roll of Tyvek tape for the coming season.

I'll probably have to get some tape as well. I have never put a hole in my boat the material is so tough.

I like your choice of colour! Ours are respectively called cloudberry, blueberry and cowberry (can you figure the colours?), although that might be considered the equivalent to names like banana and lemon cream puff :)
Picton River looks like a fantastic place for packrafting – hope to someday float a Tassie river myself.

Hmm, how about the names "Heavy Bomber" or the" Growling Tiger?" Heeh, the yellow color will make it more visible to people in case of emergencies. But I have to admit, the Curious George is a cute name for it. But I still stand by my suggestions. LOL!

Maybe Curious George is too cute and I do like Growling tiger.
