A few of us just had the pleasure of "discovering" the excellent mountain bike loop ride at Mt. York near the Blue Mountains town of Mt. Victoria (here). I have only ridden a few of the tracks in the Blue Mountains such as the Oaks (here), but generally I find they have too much wide fire road riding and not enough challenging single track. The Mt. York ride is a different beast and is the best ride I have done so far in the Blues. Mt. York starts with about 7 km of fun single track with some technical bits and then a fast descent into the valley. A little single track follows the paved road a klick or to to the start of the mixed gravel road and single track ascent back to the start of the ride. To make things even better half way through the 17 km ride, when your idling through Hartley Vale on the Lett River, you come to the Comet Inn where you can stop for a refreshing beverage and look at the ecclectic collection of historic photos on the walls. I have no photos for this post because I was too busy holding onto my bike bars to shoot a photo.
